This guy STILL cracks me up!

This is the time of year when my business, and Steve's business, slows down a little----this gives us some time to do Holiday things with family, play in the rain, as well as catch up on maintenance of our inspection-report templates----a pretty much never ending job.

Other times when his business has gotten slow, he has come down from Bellingham to go on inspection "ride-a-longs" with me.  This gives us a chance to catch up on the latest inspection stuff like what is going on with Home Inspector Licensing in Washington State, and to argue about which of our inspection assistants is worth their salt.  Most likely neither of them is worth a damn---but we have fun arguing about it anyway (I suspect that Nutsy would "taste" the best with salt however).

Last May---during another slow time---he did such a ride along with me.  That tale----of "hide-and-seek"----was told in a post called, "This guy cracks me up!" King of the House

Those of you that know Steve know he has a "thing" about his coveralls.  First of all, he had the infamous

"green"
coveralls----which his wife claims he used to sleep in as well.

Well naturally when you wear something----"day-and-night"----it is going to wear out. So then he got the new improved

"blue"
coveralls---and he even got them for his Certifried Assistant Nutsy.  And they looked pretty dang cool too----like the Dynamic Duo.Nutsy and Boss

So it was no surprise to me the other day when he showed up at my door step in his spiffy new

"yellow"
coveralls----asking to go along with me on another ride-a-long.  He was lucky I had an inspection that day----driving all the way down from Bellingham and all.

So off we went to inspect a cute little 40's bungalow.

Like usual, after I had started my inspection, I noticed he was not following me around any more----I think he got bored while I was inspecting the garbage disposal----or perhaps the pull-out cutting boards.  I went to find him----thinking he was playing hide and seek again.  Off in the distance I could hear, "48, 49, 50, 51....."

I found him in one of the bedrooms in the dark.

     I flipped on the light to find him counting-----"58, 59, 60, 61......"

Child

It looked as if this time he was waiting for me to hide----"62, 63, 64......"  If he was counting to "100," he doesn't realize that I would NOT need that much time to effectively hide from him.

It seems impossible to believe that Steve would actually play this game again during an inspection after the last time; and, for those that doubt it.......

Now if I can just find a place to hide! sunsmile

I hope RE business picks up real soon, (tomorrow) you guys have way to much time on your hands. I heard Steve was short, but the picture next to Nutsy says it all.

Hi Charles,

that last picture actually looks a little frightening.  Steve doesn't cut and paste well.

One question...are you guys this much fun on your inspections? Maybe you can come "train" some of our inspectors...lol

Jim, well I "personally" don't play "hide-and-seek" on my inspections----but I do try to "take the edge off" so to speak:)

Hey you guys, bring your crow, your squirell, and head up here to Ohio, and Mugsy & I will give you a ride along that you won't soon forget.

Can you imagine... a nutsy squirell, a squaking crow, and a rampant monkey... all in a car with the three of us..  boggles the imagination.

Michael, I sure hope he does:)

Kevin, that would be interesting for sure!

Mr Charles,

Enjoy the post. Come up to Bellingham and we will do a bit of celebrating. That is enjoying the Christmas cheer, so to speak. I am out of the pokey on that disorderly conduct and feelin' good. I am hoistin' one for the beeman.

Chuckie Bee,

That photo you took of me looks kind of creepy. Did you ever see that movie called Don't Look Now with the killer dwarf in the raincoat. It took place in Venice and I had that look in the photo. I am gonna lose the raingear next time I play with you and also make sure you do not have your camera.

I am laughing so hard that the rest of the building came and gathered around my computer to see what was so funny.

Steve Nutsy----looks like more than one to me.

Steve, probably a good idea:)

Tammy, so glad I could make your day (and the whole building) at Steve's and Nutsy's expense:)

Charlie, That Steve seems like he's into mischief the minute you leave him alone. Good thing Nutsy was along or it would have been double trouble.

Posted by James Quarello - Connecticut Home Inspector (JRV Home Inspection Services, LLC) over 3 years ago

James, he is way worse than Nutsy:)

By the way----how is Conn----had any freezing rain yet?

Posted by Charles Buell, Seattle Home Inspector (Charles Buell Inspections.com) over 3 years ago
Rained last night and is frozen this morning. Black ice warnings for the commute.
Posted by James Quarello - Connecticut Home Inspector (JRV Home Inspection Services, LLC) over 3 years ago

Just as I thought-----ice all over everthing is one of my fondest memories of Connecticut----get out there with the camera!:)

Posted by Charles Buell, Seattle Home Inspector (Charles Buell Inspections.com) over 3 years ago
Charlie, It wasn't freezing rain. It was warm and raining and then later cooled down. No glittering trees. I'll get some photos if we have an ice storm.
