Remember that old game show "Name that Tune?"
Well, I only sort of remembered it, so I Googled it, and then I was sorry I remembered as much as I did. I know Barbara and Steve loved it, so I won't come down too hard on it. I am sure it had its fun moments----but they used some pretty obscure tunes in the "championship" rounds.
This contest is a little bit like that. Lets call it, "Name that Defect."
In this case you won't have only 20 seconds to look at it and 10 seconds to come up with the answer-----you will have all the time you want and more. But----remember someone else might beat you to the answer and the "prize"----an autographed, digital copy of my Excel Tutorial on putting "highlights" on pictures (Now is that a prize or what?). The picture (like the contest itself) has several "defects" but I am looking for one particular "defect" that stands-out, in a way all its own. A defect that is, in itself, considered to be a defect by some. So that you can see the image as clearly as possible (most likely better than you want to), I will make the picture as BIG as the AR Gremlins will let me. I will provide some "hint pictures" later on, unless someone supplies the correct answer right away.
So here it is and: "Name that Defect."

Charles it a little difficult to see it's almost like I need to touch the surface of that wall to determine the defect, but I'm going to said that section of wall is ducted tape and painted to match the wall.~Roy
I know ..I know!!! The ugly wallpaper defect that is widespread all over the county like a virus. This rampant defect runs a close second to the wallpaper border.
Charles, you have another contest!!! And Steve and I did NOT watch that sorry TV show. My mind is still numb from trying to figure out how to put highlights on the pictures. Methinks that you have a few defects in the instructions on that tutorial.
Are you speaking of:
1. The loose wallpaper?
2. The painted tape?
3. The caulking next to the wallpaper?
4. The seamed piece of paneling in the middle of the wall?
5. The tile over vinyl flooring?
6. The loose edge of the vinyl flooring?
7. The loose metal transition strip?
8. The wallpaper being cut short under the step?
9. The mouse hole at the bottom of the painted over tape?
10. The fact that the tile trim pieces have not been installed to the wall (over the vinyl flooring)?
11. The missing piece of countertop laminate on the end of the counter in the other room?
12. The bad paint job on the paneling & trim?
13. The nosing on the step next to the tile that does not cover previous floor layers, and might be considered a trip hazard?
I'm tired....
I think I'm defective for commenting on this. Cheers :))
Roy, well you sure made short work of this contest:) This was not so much an attempt at another good contest as it was to show another interesting use of duct tape. This duct tape covered about a once gap the whole height of the doorway and was nicely painted out so that at first it just looked like part of the molding. Here is another picture where you can actually tell that it is duct tape.
Sean, I am afraid that this house had so many defects that I am sure that any one picture would be like a "where's Waldo."
Cheryl, that is kind of what it looks like at first.
Scott, lots of defects.
Lizette, I am sure that besides the duct tape being something that is a defect in itsefl----wallpaper may be right up there:)
Barbara, email me where you are getting stuck (send me screen shots if you can)
Kevin, the countertop laminate----you got it!
I know I got here late, but my first thought was that there is not a hand rail for the mice to use as they descend the steps. Then I look at the 'real answers' and see that wasn't even a concern. My bad- personally the duct tape was a selling point. Next---cw
Charles, I’m sorry, I did not mean to kill the contest so short, soooooo………. Keep the prize, (man, I wanted that prize so much) for the next contest.~Roy
Shazzzam, More "defects" than you can shake a dead cat at!!!
Sean Allen
Roy----its all about the "conversation." Some are short and too the point----some are long and drawn out:) So how about a little Tutorial on how you do the HTML in comments?
Sean, you see defects?
Jack, I will have to think about round two
There's a mouse in that house!
Kevin is a showoff. :)
