For those of you that have been hanging around my blog from the beginning of time, hopefully, have no clue when I am kidding and when I am not----and therefore you know that for me, doing the dishes is a "Religious Experience." This morning while I was in church I broke a plate in the sink. This reminded me of one of the few "Helpful Heloise" type hints that I know of. What to do when you have a kitchen sink full of water covered with soap suds and you have something broken and sharp waiting to bite you in the deep.
Well you take a clear glass bottom bowl (like the one pictured to the left of the sink) and you float it in the water and then push it down into the water----don't let it fill up with water though. Then---you can pretty clearly see the bottom of the sink and find the broken pieces to remove them safely.

Can you see the broken plate? Along with all the silverware? Pretty cool if you are a wimp like me and don't like cutting yourself.

Dang it! Know I have to buy another plate (a clear one this time)! :) Great post.
Charlie,
You are becoming so much more practical. I remember being at your place last time you did that. It was pretty startling when you put on the scuba mask and snorkel and buried your face in the greasy, soapy slime.
Jason, a tall clear glass or juice bottle works just as well----actually better.
Steven, I know no one but you will believe be but that does work!
I think I just found another new use for my 'See Snake". Thanks.
PS: Do you grab your camera every time you break something? :)
Yep, I can see the broken piece along with ALOT of dirty flatware. Best get busy washing that flatware. Word of advise....... You wouldn't have to use that clear bowl to look down into the sink if you were a little more careful.

Charles, you broke that plate on purpose to do a blog. I don't like washing dishes. It is a time for cursing for me, not getting religion. I especially hate washing dishes at someone's house with helpers who drop all kinds of sharp knives and silverware into the water. Who wants to fish around wondering if you're going to cut yourself on the knives. NOW, I'll just show my newfound knowledge and look through the bowl to see what's there. They'll envy my intelligence!!!!
What would Barbara do without you, Charles? Heck, what would we all do without you? :)
Kevin, I do like to keep my camera handy---you just never know.
Sean, I will try to be more careful----I think you have your hands full being careful in Florida right now with the wind storm and all:)----stay safe!
Barbara, do you really think I would break a perfectly good plate just for a blog prop? I would be willing to bet that you are pretty smart without my party tricks:)
Kevin Again, hopefully I can keep you chuckling
Hi Charley, yup you can keep me chicklin! :) Speaking of Kitchens...any chance the contest points are in or soon? :) Will the links be posted? :) Gail
Gail, you went WAY back to find this post :) There is a glitch witht he contest that prevents awarding of points and judging the entries. AR is working on the problem and we hope to have the results out soon. Please hang in there.
