As of Today, all of us cell phone users in Washington State have to be "hands-free" while driving.
In the days before hands-free devices, I was one of those drivers that should never use a cell phone while driving-----not sure about it even now. As soon as I heard there was going to be a law requiring that we be hands-free, I went out and bought my first "blue-tooth." I love it. It is a huge improvement over trying to fiddle with the phone in my hand. (I never was much of a "multi-tasker.") I always hated trying to fish the phone out from behind the gas peddle at 60 miles an hour after I dropped it----or trying to dial without running into the car in front of me.
Some say that even "hands-free" devices aren't enough. Time will tell----hopefully it won't take too many deaths to figure it out.
How would it affect your business if you couldn't use your phone at all in the car? I think we have all gotten so use to them----and in traffic what a great way to get a little office work done.
Here is a picture of me sporting my latest blue-tooth.

HAHAHA!! Looks like you might want some whitening strips there Charles!!
As for me, I am getting a blue tooth very soon. The problem I have with my cell while driving, is that I have a 5 speed. Nothing like driving in rush hour traffic trying to dial your phone and shift gears at the same time.
Charles, a couple of years ago I tried a Plantronics Bluetooth. I have an engineering degree, but I could never figure out how to accept a call on the d--- thing before it was too late. Hopefully, some of the newer ones are more intuitive.
i have been using a bluetooth headset for years, & i couldnt imagine driving without it. especially during the busy times in our field. no matter where i am or what im doing it always makes it easy for me to answer my clients calls. besides handsfree has been the law in my state for quite some time.
Mike, plus eating too right?
Brian, this one works pretty well-----just depress the button on it
Alisa, I too find it very convienient
Love your new bluetooth! LOL I hate the one in my ear.I always forget to charge it. Now it's lost somewhere. Now I have been researching the TomTom 920 GPS so it will tell me where to go and also be a hands free phone/GPS in my car. I'm this>< close to purchasing it.
Hi Lizette, I used to use my TomTom for that and it worked pretty well but was difficult sometimes with road noise if you have the windows down. If you have a very quiet car and don't wind down the windows it is probably ok. Of course everyone else in the car gets to hear the person on the other end:)
Hmmmm I kinda like that blue tooth, very innovative
I hated my blue tooth. It would die quickly and I can't imagine there would be anything more dangerous than trying to salvage an important call while the blue tooth dumped it while driving. I will take speaker phone any day!
Should have drawn in a moustache too Charles. LOL There are several communities around here that have enacted laws not allowing cell phone use while driving, period. So I use the blue tooth wherever I can, and usually try to pull off the road for any lengthy conversation.
Renee, sorry to hear about your experience with the Blue Tooth---probably no system is perfect.
Keven, I expect that sooner or later we just won't be allowed to use phones while driving. Even with the hands-free, phone calls are still distracting.
Charlie,
You need a hair cut and the dentist needs to look at that tooth.
I use to have a blue tooth but it developed a dep cavity and had to be extracted. Ohwell.
Sean Allen
Charles... you better be careful.... I just heard that Smurfette thinks you are really hot looking with that sexy blue tooth.
Steve, which tooth?
Sean, so do you have false blue teeth now?
Kevin, bring her on! (you should put "Smurfette) in Google images search:)
I also drive a 5 speed so I let voicemail get the call then when I get to where i'm going I check the messages. I hardly ever drive to far, and when I do my wife is with me and she can take my call.
What a funny, in-your-face picture!! No one can miss it. I gotta go back up to it and see what was written on it.
Michael, so are you and your wife an inspection team?
Hey Barbara, that squirrel whisperer from Bellingham is the funny looking one!
Cool Charles... I have heard of being long-in-the-tooth, but not blue-in-the-tooth... Who said that home inspectors don't have a sense of humor?
Michael, good to be "funny"----just got to avoid being a "joke":)
Michael.... you've illustrated exactly what my mind conjures up when I hear the phrase :) thanks for the humor. Cheers!
Hi Teresa, thanks for stopping by and checking out my blue tooth
lol Charles I'm REALLY happy for the people of Seattle that you won't be fishing your phone out from under the gas peddle anymore.
