Ruh Roh----vertigo----where I go!

There are lots of things about doing Home Inspections that are not for the faint of heart-----things that would even scare Hitchcock I think.

Home inspectors need to have a healthy respect and/or tolerance for electricity, rats, tight spaces, filth, spiders, snakes, heights----and people.

The other day I inspected the roof of a four story condo building.  Looking over the edge of the roof to check out the fascia and siding, I noticed the toy cars below.

Who put those tiny cars down there?

     Vertigo anyone?

You are right a home inspector does need to be able to fit in tight places you never know what to expect while doing an inspection.

Home inspectors need to have a healthy respect (got that) and/or tolerance (oh no, I hate static electricity) for electricity, rats(nope), tight spaces(un uh), filth(ewwwwwwwww), spiders( No) , snakes(heck no), heights(not so much unless there are windows)----and people(this I can do well).

Well Charles, I think I better stick to being a real estate broker and let you stick to what you do well.

They do look like toy car.  Next time I think you put a hot wheels between them before you take the photo. LOL

There are some things in life I have never dreamed of being.

An inspector is one of them for the reasons you listed and faced.

I take a great pleasure in observing the view through your camera

Enjoy the day

Charles sounds like you have a lot in common with us Stagers!  I am still brushing cobwebs off my shoes and clothes from my last consultation:)

John, no I have a cape :)

Ana, I can imagine----I see lots of houses I would rather inspect than stage:)

Don, I lucked out on this one----roof access from the top of the stairwell

Paul, indeed----catching up after being away all week

Hi Charles, I could feel my stomach roll as I looked at the picture looking over the edge.  Nice view.

sufferer of vertigo; that's why I love Texas, wide open spaces.

Posted by Teral McDowell (KW® Central-Murphy) over 1 year ago

Dale, even as a sport climber these views still get me----we are pretty much built to avoid falls :)

Teral----you still have lots of tall buildings though :)

Charlie,

The only way I can get to the top of one of these is an inside access or, often, if I am doing an upper unit, I can put the ladder on a balcony.

Ouch, Charles.  I have gotten older and progressively more respectful of heights and actually all that other stuff too.  Knees wobble but they don't buckle yet.  Next year.

Steve, for me also.

Jack, it is always good to maintain a "beginners mind" when it comes to these things.

I was just wondering the other day about climbing on the roof to inspect some shingles...still thinking .

Lizette, still thinking?  You could call your local friendly inspector.

I had a similar experience at a home I inspected last week - it was a huge three story home with a walkout basement.  I don't think this city has any height restrictions on single family homes.  It was a little freaky standing on the roof, but the view was great.

Three story with walkout

great view
