Decisions, decisions…..

Did you ever notice how interesting the word “decision” is?

Twin Ponds, Shoreline WA     We are all making decisions every day.

Some people can be very decisive----just forging ahead at all costs (listen up bungee jumpers), while others are so indecisive they can barely get themselves out of bed in the morning (Nutsy?).

Still others refuse to make any decision at all----thinking that whatever they are dealing with will just go away if they simply decide nothing. Does that sound a little like Nutsy trying to cross the road?   A squirrels ability to get across the road is 99.9% luck.

So here we have “deciding,” “indecision,” and “non-decision.”

My question of the day is:  would it help people to be more decisive if they were aware that all three are still ways of deciding?

There really is no escape.  It is knowing which one is appropriate for each moment that matters----not that any one is "necessarily" wrong.  All can be the wrong choice however.

Not sure, I'll get back to you when I decide. That's something I am certain about, I think, maybe.

I want to be a squirrel and live on 99.9% luck.

Yes... wait.... No........I'm not sure......... maybe.........uh.........no.. no... it wouldn't help because... well, maybe it would help..... no, I'm sure it wouldn't, or it might... wait...

What was the question?

I think one of the hardest things for people to admit to themselves is that their inaction, is in fact an action, and carries its own set of consequences.

And people on AR are crazy...Michael, Andrew, Daniel, and of course Alan!

No, it is easier to blame someone else no matter the outcome from deciding or not =)

I missed your post yesterday, Charlie, but I can understand the plumbing issues with the capped vent and also why the inspector might have missed it. What I can't understand is the origins or the intentions of today's post. Are you getting squirrely, lucky or both.

Mr Charles,

This is typical inaccurate propaganda and I am very offensive by it. Squirrels do not have luck, they make the critical decisions with keen insight into existential aspects of the universe. We are highly intelligent.

Charles - If ALL can be the wrong choice, how do I be certain that I'm making the right choice?  Your post leaves me as flat as a north Georgia "sail squirrel."  (After a couple of days on the hot pavement you can peel them up and throw them like a Frisbee.)

Sometimes a bad decision can be better than none at all.  I refer to it as having one foot on the dock and the other on the boat.

Look before you leap.

But he who hesitates is lost.

What's a guy to do?!!!

Michael, then again maybe not :)

Andrew, what if......?

Daniel, they do get along pretty well on luck :)

Alan----I forget myself what the question was

Jenna, you are right----they are all crazy:)

Glenn, all three :)

Nutsy, the proof is in the pie

John, and I have to say that is their finest form

Gene, I think that is what is so cool about the word----very difficult to pin down

Craig roll with punches and play dead I guess-----then sneak up from behind

I'm never too afraid to make an executive decision. Usually it all turns out great!

I now wonder if the squirrel get to the road and thinks

     1) cross the road

     2) use the telephone wires overhead

     3) come back later

Now I can't decide

Enjoy the day

Well If I hadn't read your post I never would have known what a 'bollard' was!  And for some reason I didn't think we had carpenter ants in our part of the world.........in 21 years of Real Estate I've never seen their handiwork!:-)

Haha I see I commented to the wrong post - Bad Decision!~

O.k. so I decidd to go back and read it:  yes - unfortunately 'knowing' that 'not deciding' is a 'decision' often doesn't make it any easier to 'decide' :-)

Liz----it is all good----you can visit as much as you want :)

Liz----doesn't seem to does it.

Jay, and thanks for that :)

Croakster---keep in mind when you are sitting there----musk ox are VERY heavy!

Don, is that your final decision?

Posted by Charles Buell, Seattle Home Inspector (Charles Buell Inspections.com) almost 2 years ago

I think Don has decided not to decide, which should not be construed as indecision.

Posted by Jay Markanich - Northern VA Home Inspector (Jay Markanich Real Estate Inspections, LLC) almost 2 years ago

Jay, perhaps we should look at it as being "multi-decisional"
