It is St. Patrick’s Day on Phinney Ridge in Seattle.
This is the second post in a series of posts I am doing to document the seasons of a plum tree in the Phinney Ridge Neighborhood of Seattle. The last post was for Valentine’s Day. As long as I have been in the Northwest, the owners of this tree have decorated it for whatever holiday was applicable.
To me, this shows a lot of commitment, and I hope the decorators get all the kudos they deserve for what must take a lot of effort. It also makes me wonder what their storage facilities look like----to keep track of all the lights and ornaments for the different holidays.
Up next----the Easter Bunny.
The tree is always spectacular----whether night or day. One cannot miss it as you head down the hill West on 65th Street, from Greenwood Ave.
If you are in the area----check it out.
Here is a little Irish Music for you----and now go get your Irish on!

A holiday I love. :) I wear green all week. I have shamrock earrings too. My Donald has a shamrock tattoo. His mom was born in Ireland. I love their tree. I used to hang easter eggs in a tree when Abigail was little, I've let the tradition go over the past few years. Thanks for sharing their tree with those of us who won't be able to drive by.
Tammy here is picture of the full tree.
Charles - Thanks for the photo. Because of my Irish heritage I'm always appreciative of those who celebrate our traditions--although I suspect Ireland has never seen a tree such as this! Here's my favorite Celtic curse:
MAY THOSE THAT LOVE US, LOVE US
AND THOSE THAT DON'T LOVE US
MAY GOD TURN THEIR HEARTS
AND IF HE CAN'T TURN THEIR HEARTS
MAY HE TURN THEIR ANKLES
SO WE'LL KNOW THEM BY THEIR LIMPING
Hey, Charlie, I kno that tree. Thoses folks have a lot of fun with it year around.
Great fun Charles. Those people are lucky to have you immortalize their dedication and holiday spirit.
John, very cool curse :)
Glenn, I suspected you might----being such a main street across town
Craig---that is my goal :)
Charles, you are the only one who can throw a party on your blog!
Okay, now I'm totally amazed. I can NOT believe it is blooming. We've been so cold down here in the deep south that everything is running a month behind schedule and not blooming yet. The forsythia just popped this week. No trees yet. Thanks Charles. It's beautiful.
Wow, you have flowering buds already! Not around here, for at least a few weeks.
My mom is about three quarter Irish so you can imagine my upbringing. She would love that tree.
That reminds of a family I knew growing up. They had an artificial Christmas tree that they kept up all year, and decorated accordingly with each holiday.
Carla, you can too :)
Tammy this one is almost gone by---it was blooming on Valentine's day
Jay, see comment #8
James, and Quarello is such a good old Irish name :)
Troy---too funny :)
Betcha a hundred bucks these are really fun people!
Debi
Oh how cute is that! There's a reason green is my favorite colour! :-)
Charles, great job giving them some recognition! Well deserved!
Debi, I would not bet against you on that :)
Liz, you can't get more green than Irish
Tony & Darcy----I wonder if they will ever know :)
Hi Charles:
I stopped by to wish you a Happy St Patrick's Day from the team at National Credit Fixers!
:)
Oh Mr Charles,
So hilarious for all. I am hiding under that top hat, center.
Nutsy
Matt, and the same to you
Nutsy---I imagine today is the day you get a little green behind the gills as they say
I was going to comment about we need to see Nutsy dressed as a Leprechaun and there he is.
Gene, but this is more accurate:
DAD!
Sneaky blog-linker.
Yup
I'm loving the tree and the owners spirit!! I kept a small Christmas tree in my office one year...for the whole year--- decorated it accordingly for the seasons/holidays... :) It was a great conversation piece. Have a great day Charlie!
Love the picture. What fun they must have decorating and then seeing everyone's reaction. They propably can't wait to see that guy with the camera come out and take the bunny tree shot.
Kara, hope you had a nice green day too.
Diane----they are probably blogging about the nut case that is stalking their tree :)
Hi, Charlie. It's nice to see people having so much fun...that tree obviously gives them..and oters...alot of pleasure!
I LOVED John's Irish curse! (comment #3) Leave it to him!
How about this..."May the wind at your back not be the result of the corned beef and cabbage you ate for lunch!"
Leslie, gotta love the corned beef and cabbage "weather" :)
