When Home Inspectors look at homes, they must have both a “big view” and a “little view” of the home. In other words they have to be careful to not get so focused on the details that they miss the big things. They must also be careful to get in close so as to not see just the big things. In the following picture we can see the detail of the picture up close but it is only if we move away from the screen a few yards that it becomes clearer----at least a little bit. So what is it that you are seeing close up and what does it tell you from far away? Charles Buell

PS, for those of you that are new to my blog (or for some other "unexplained" reason have never noticed)

Charles - I think it's a photo of the shower door from the updated version of "Psycho."
Hi Charles, great analogy on seeing the whole picture! BTW your photographs are as cool as your paintings!
Charles...
I had to walk across the room, but I finally got the message! Good analogy.
I liked your butterfly photos better!!!!
John, you are close? :)
Russell, thanks---I love trying to approach "non-objectiveness" with photography too.
Richard, yes---thanks. It seems like the farther you get away from this one the "clearer" it gets. Hope everyone has a big office or a lap top:)
Barbara, AHHHH yes :)
Elvis wearing a dunce cap doing a disco point. Definitely.
That is very creative Jay. I can totally see the "king" in there.....
Jay, are you sure it isn't Elton John or Muddy Waters?
Jim, I think you are both "all wet"
Charles, wonderful job making your point with this post.
I'm not even going to tell you what I saw in that picture until you tell me what you see in this one....Just want to see if we're on the same page!!!
Charles - you have to get a "distant" perspective on this one and be really cool. Mr. Jefferson (what a cool cat) would be proud, so would all of those guys who used to make the old iceboxes, you know the ones with the doors in the back. It kinda reminds me of contemporary art... would that be CUBISM... sittin' in a tray!
This one's Cold man.... cold!
Craig---not even close----better try again :)
Alan---frigid at that! LOL
Sure. EJ wears weird glasses and Muddy is really, really fat.
Elvis. Definitely.
No musk ox this time.
Craig - that is the front door of an Afgani safe house after my son is done with it.
Jay, what no Musk? Smells fishy. Also they could probably use this thing in Afganistan.
Jay, by the way---you get a prize today----your comment #12 was my 20,000th comment received :)
Here is your flower:
Charles, I think it's ice, but that is the best I can do....
Charles, nice photo to illustrate your point!
I think it is a skier....keeping with the Olympic Theme.
Hi Charles, carrying on Diane's Olympic theme, it looks like an athlete lighting the torch in a Vancouver downpour.
Okay Charles, I'm stumpted. And I went all the way down my long hall.
Debi, yes that is what it says. Picture taken through the pouring rain on my windshield at a gas station bulk "ICE" machine.
Tony & Darcy, thanks
Diane----well "cold" is involved:)
Frank----I had heard they were hurting for snow.
Tammy, see my comment to Debi, #16
So Charlie,
Are we talking micro and macro views here.
Is that Elvis with a big belt buckle and a guitar?
Yes, I think so...
Also, I'm happy, and I think fitting, to be #20K!
Steve, I know you are thinking "micro-brew"
Jay, now if I can just turn that into $
Mr Charles,
That is food coloring on aluminum foil.
Nutsy
Nutsy, you kind of have a thing for cooking equipment
Thanks for posting. We learn a lot from Active Rain blogs. Best Regards
Nutsy
That was a real brain teaser-- it looked like so many things. Water, ice, but thanks for revealing what it really was. I would never have guessed accurately.
Nutsy anything and EVERYTHING you know you learned on AR
Carla---pretty tough I think:)
I wanted to see if I could figure it out so I guessed it was a sign with the numbers "1,6,5" on them; however, I noticed that I was WAY off as it says "ICE." This was a lot of fun, I actually had a couple of folks in the office try to figure it out with me. LOL
Joe, cool---so did you actually see that it said "ICE" by backing away from the image or by reading the comments?
When I backed away from it I ended at the numbers '1.6.5,' but never did I think it was going to be something as obvious as the word 'ICE.' LOL Oh well, at least it was a fun way to make an EXCELLENT point. Thank you Charles. I'm having a lot of fun reading your posts.
